March is Board of Education Appreciation Month. The board of education is a volunteer representative body elected by the registered voters of the local public school district. The board governs the school district and serves as a leader and champion for public education in the community. We want to start by showing our appreciation to board members past and present. You will see a list of several board members since 1968! Help us show our appreciation to each past and present board member and their family. We will be highlighting current board members throughout the month.

LMS 7th grade students were honored to have a guest speaker, Mrs. Joyce Taber, mother of LMS teacher, Mrs. Ball, who attended Woodlawn HS in Birmingham, AL during a very different era in our country. She spoke about the severity of the segregation that existed in Birmingham during that time and incidents that went on in and around Woodlawn HS during this time in history.

It's almost time for BTE and MVE Preschool and Kindergarten screening!

LHS students have been competing in an attendance competition. Every three weeks, the grade level with the highest attendance percent is rewarded. The freshman class earned ice cream sandwiches today! A big thank you to Wal-Mart for sponsoring the incentive.

The Mountain View-Birch Tree FFA/Ag program was awarded the Simmons First Foundation "Make a Difference Grant" in the amount of $12,500! Simmons Bank First Foundation awards grants to fund projects for youth through a grant application process. MVBT will be matching the grant to purchase a tractor for the FFA/Agricultural program.
