Liberty High School held the first Spring Showcase on Friday, March 31. The 'Grow Together' event showcased students' work, clubs, and programs at LHS. A big thanks to Alton Bank for sponsoring the dinner and West Plains Bank for having a booth. We appreciate the support of our community!
Attendees were entered in a drawing for prizes. Amanda Crane and Chris Bushong won LE signs donated by FFA, Nora Pendegraft won a cooler donated by LHS staff, and Tracy Henry won $50 donated by Circle B Campground.

Ms. Pennycuick was nominated by her peers for the March Teacher of the Month! The characteristic for March is adaptability. Here are a few things her peers say about her:
"When I go into her room everything has a place. When I installed her computer at the beginning of the year, she had everything in place and it only took three minutes to install her setup."
"Mitzie is a dancing, singing, passionate, quirky teacher! She is ACTIVE! She has a button that is a 30 second dance party! Ms. P is full of zest and it's contagious! I love teaching with her and her excitement for history! Shake your tail feather, Ms. P!!!"
"I just feel like Mitzie is always excited to come to work. She is super prepared and makes her classroom a fun learning environment where ALL students feel welcomed. I know she's made an impact on my own child and I just think she's doing great things at the middle school!"
"Ms.Pennyquick has always been motivated to help students learn to the best of her ability! Not only does Ms.Pennycuick teach social studies to her students, she is always helping students better their communication skills and working through their feelings. She is centered on her students daily!"
"Mitzie is a ball of "festivus"! She always finds the good in any situation. "Smiles" is her middle name. Mitz dances, laughs, and has an upbeat personality! Her classroom atmosphere is joyful; it literally could be called The Pennycuick Jubilee. I'm thankful her energy and joy rub off on the students and staff."
Congratulations, Ms. P! We would like to thank you for all you do! Your enthusiasm is contagious!

Save the Dates!

Our Liberty High School band had the opportunity to participate in the MSHSAA District Music Festival. The band received an Oustanding Rating, and one of the judges remarked, "it the best small band I think I have ever heard." Another said, "This group is living proof that you don't have to be a big band to be a great band. I see great things for the future of this program."
These students worked very hard to put on the best performance possible, and their scores reflect that. Several students also participated on the second day of the festival, which was all solos or small ensembles:
Taylor Manley - Gold Rating - State Qualifier
Kennedy Stallsworth - Silver Rating
Drayton Wells - Silver Rating
Saxophone Quartet - Kennedy Stallworth, Matthew Roby, Taylor Manley, Alexandria Boomer - Silver Rating
Lily Kelly - Bronze Rating
Haylee Drexler - Bronze Rating

Congratulations to Madison Matthews, a junior at LHS, for being named March's Student of the Month! Madison's commitment to academic success and kind spirit are noticed by all! Thank you to Shelter Insurance and Andrea McNew for honoring our students.

LHS students went to the Traction Reunion in Columbia on March 27 and 28th. They received a letter of recognition for all the hard work they have been doing and will receive $500 to use as they need it. They want to use this money to get signs and parking passes for next year if approved. Awesome work!

Last week, students at Birch Tree Elementary experienced a traveling museum from the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum. This traveling display contained photographs and information relating to Mrs. Wilder, her famous “Little House” books and America’s westward expansion. It also contained vintage items people might have used during this time period of her life.

Mrs. Holter's classes have been working hard. Students in Biology have created and presented projects about meiosis and worked in groups to master the process. Students in Anatomy and Physiology dissected a brain!

Library Night with the English Department was a huge success! The English Department and fifty students spent the evening reading, studying, playing games, and completing an escape room.

Hello, this is Dr. Christensen notifying parents that there are already road closures reported in our area at low-water crossings. There will certainly be roads that our buses will not be able to travel as they take kids home this afternoon after school dismisses at the normal time. If you live on the other side of a low-water crossing, you will need to plan on the bus not being able to drop your child off at home. Please make arrangements to pick up your child from school-- even if you have to pick them up early before the water rises any more. Any students who rode a bus but were not able to be dropped off at home due to high water will be taken back to their school. We appreciate your willingness to work with us as we strive to ensure the safety of all of our students.

Here are just a few pictures from BTE's 1st Grade Reading Night. We want to thank the parents and students who attended!

Attendance Matters! We have been promoting good attendance at LHS with personal, class, and school-wide incentives. The senior class won the last attendance challenge and was rewarded with ice creams and sodas from Barn Hollow Veterinary Services. Thank you Dr. Orchard and Mrs. Terri!

Throughout March, we have been recognizing our Board of Education members. Mr. Keith Tharp has served the Mountain View-Birch Tree R-III School District as a Board of Education member for 20 years. Earlier this year he informed the board that this would be his last term. He offered advice during the last board meeting, encouraging all board members and administrators to always keep the needs of the students first. Keith will tell you that his 5 granddaughters and 1 grandson are some of the reasons he continued serving as a board member for 20 years. Thank you, Keith, for 20 years of service at MVBT! (We are pretty sure that Keith is the longest serving board member in MVBT's history.)

Thank you, Mrs. Denton!

Thank you, Mr. Roberts!

Thank you, Mrs. Mantel!
