The VFW annually sponsors a writing competition for middle school students called the Patriot’s Pen. A patriotic subject is chosen by the VFW & the kids write an essay based on the established parameters. They can not get any help from their teachers or parents, that is one rule! On their own time, without help, and without it being a requirement for school, they write their essay & it is judged by a panel of people in the VFW organization. 1st place- Aurora Hulvey $200 & plaque 2nd place- Heidi Holderman $125 & certificate 3rd place- Olivia Jennings $75 & certificate All other participants received a certificate & a $5 prize. We appreciate the VFW sponsoring this annual competition & we are thrilled at how many students chose to do this elective essay!! 🇺🇸

Due to our extremely low attendance again today, we are canceling school tomorrow and Wednesday. There will be no school on Tuesday, December 13 and Wednesday, December 14. We will return to school on Thursday, December 15. The next two days are considered school days with alternative methods of instruction (AMI) to be completed at home. Students will be bringing home educational packets today and will need to return their completed packets when they return to school or they will be counted absent on Tuesday and Wednesday. Beginning today, all extra curricular activities in the district, including ball games, are canceled Monday through Wednesday evening. Again, there will be no school tomorrow or Wednesday. Today will be a full day of school. Please do not send your child to school on Thursday if they are sick or running a fever.
